Email from April 1

There's not much at all to say this week, quite sad.

I haven't really been having time to write in my journal this week and I'm a Little behind. This week was mememorable in the way you don't want a week to be memorable. SUPER hot. And a big trial of my patience. The Little things that people do just drive me crazy...or at least, they used to. For example, I don't know why, but this week my companion has started to do something that has just driven me bonkers! I'll knock on a door. After my Little knock rhythm, he has to knock the door one more time. EVERY DOOR! Literally, drives me bonkers. But not once did I get mad. It's a miracle how much patience I've gained these past few months. I'm going to come home quite a different person, so that'll be interesting. And also a big trial of faith, but that's fun.

I'm so excited for conference this weekend, I can't even control it. We're inviting the whole world. We made Little fliers that we're giving to the people we talk to. Literally, I feel like conference is like a holiday, I'm getting shakey just thinking about it! I know it will be fantastic!!

DyC 58:1-9. Especially verse 3 impacted me. My natural eyes can't see the grand designs of God, but after the trials and tribulation will come the eternal glory. Also, verse 6. I was sent to be obedient and to testify. There isn't allowance for disobedience of the slightest. These few verses have given me great comfort and have changed my thinking.

I love y'all a ton! If you have questions, ask!

Email from March 24

A couple of interesting Little things happened this week. In one day, we taught two Atheists! One wasn't positive at all. The other was a totally different story. He happily let us in and listened to what we had to say. At the end, without us asking, he asked about church so he could attend. I got super excited and was thinking that I was about to baptize an atheist! Then, on Sunday, I called him to remind him of church. He said that he read the Little pamphlet that we gave him, but he didn't like it. And that he doesn't want to keep hearing us. That's sad news. But, we've planted the seed. One day, he'll be interested again.

Right after that, we had a great Little experience with a couple of drunk guys. We started knocking doors to see how open the people would be to us this day. We knocked one door, then Heard the singing of an old drunk guy strumming his guitar. He started to chant-sing ''Mormons...they're going to hell. Mormons...they just keep lying. Mormons...'' I couldn't help but just laugh. Then, I went and sat down next to him. I told him my name then he sang me a song. ''Elder Hunt (not quite pronounced right) is going to hell...And his companion too...They don't teach the truth...They're going to hell...'' The funniest Little chant-songs ever! I asked to get a video, but he didn't allow me. Then his friend came up. He started to support us chant-singing about how we're preaching the Word of God and that it's all true. You've gotta love the drunks of Guatemala.

My theme for this week? James 2:18. 'Show my thy faith without thy Works and I will show thee my faith by my Works.' What power does that sentence contain! I have literally been working like a crazy person and just killing my companion. Walking so fast and be so focused on the work of the Lord.

I'll start trying to make my weeks more interesting so that I have more to say. I really just don't have time to write in my journal, so it's hard to remember what's been up with me.

Oh yea, cleaning inspections went well! We didn't get in trouble or anything, so that's a big plus!

With much love,

Elder Hunt

Oops! So, on Wednesday, tomorrow, we have cleaning inspections of our house. My house is filthy. It's not even my fault. I've literally cleaned and cleaned and it doesn't look like I've done anything. But I know how much dirt of gotten rid of and how it used to look. But yesterday, while the last effort of cleaning since it was P-Day, something kind of happened. So, we have a pila, it's like a concrete tub that people use to wash their dishes. There are two faucets to have wáter fill up the tub. These faucets are like 3 inches of super old PVC pipe with a Little metal faucet. Apparently, I used too much forcé and the PVC pipe for one of them just broke in half and the wáter just kept flooding out. It was literally imposible to control it! Oops! Water was falling non-stop until the wáter got cut off at 7 pm. So, i took advantage of the wáter outage when we got home at 9. I stuck a plastic bag up the tub and then sealed it with duct tape. brillant! The wáter was scheduled to come back on at like mid-night. I thought I was well prepared. I was wrong. Sure enough, in the middle of the night, the wáter came back on. The bag and duct tape held it off for a while, but that just made it worse. It built up the forcé in the pipe so that the bag and duct tape mix just shot off of the Wall. The wáter pressure carried the wáter to fall outside of the great pila or tub.Oops! But, after a Little while and the house getting soaked, the wáter calmed down and started falling in the tub again. This morning, a repair man came and took care of it all. Oops! A great Little story, right?

On Satuday, I completed 10 months! I try to look for a celebration whenever I can. I was really talking it up to the members and saying how it was such a great accomplishment. There was a family that I got super excited about it all. They went out and bought a super delicious chocolate cake and so we ate it. I love how the members take care of me. Next party? 15 of Abril, y'all are invited. I'll be celebrating 11 months.

We found a super pilas investigator the other day. She's the sister of someone that used to be an investigator. This old investigator has a Book of Mormon. A couple days ago, she, Luisana, picked up the book and started to read it. She really liked how she felt while Reading it and the story. By some miracle, we found her on Sunday night and taught her with her 12 year old son. They seem super positive and awesome. The Lord really does guide us to those that are prepared to hear the góspel. At times, we find a lot of people that aren't ready, but we've got to keep searching.

Looking back on the week, all I can really remember is what happened yesterday with the wáter faucet (or chorro).

3 Nefi 28: 34-35. I love it!

I'll be better at writing next week!
