Email from March 9

Ok, here's the story of my profecy. On the 15th of February, while writing in my journal. I wrote a feeling or impression that I just had to write to see if it would come true. I wrote that I felt as though the next change (the 5th of March) I would be raising up as District Leader. But Monday, the 3rd, we were called and told that we wouldn't being having transfers, that we'd be staying together. But, I was told that I HAD to attend transfer meeting. Usually, if you don't have changes, you're not allowed to attend, it's absolutely prohibited. Why would I have to? Because I'd have an interview with Presidente Brough. But what could he say to me? I'm already a Senior Companion who's Training and he doesn't need an interview to correct me, he'd do that by phone. So, the only option? To call me as District Leader. Well, when I showed up on Wednesday morning, he called me in. It was the shortest interview of my life. He sat me down and said, ''the Lord has called you to be a District Leader. Do you accept?'' Of course I couldn't say no. I accepted and he said, ''Good. Now, go and baptize.'' Lasted a whole minute I'd say. So, now I'm District Leader. I have no idea what I'm doing and I absolutely love it!! Really, the difference is that I'm worried about 3 areas and not just 1. It's a bit of a burden, but I love calling the missionaries in my district at night and to hear about their successes and the people they have progressing. Alma 29:14 really comes true as a leader of other missionaries.

So, I've said before how President is a little strange with me. This was no exeption on Wednesday. Right before the change meeting, the Executive Secretary came up to me. He told me that President wanted me to go with the Secretary to the airport with him. What?! Why me? Of the 160 or so missionaries, why was I chosen out of them all? It's awesome. I really do like it. I got free McDonald's :)

On Friday, we starting teaching someone quite interesting. His name is Noe (Noah) Castellanos Echeverria. His wife is a faithful member of the church and so are all of his children. He's received at least 30 sets of missionaries in the past 40 years! He literally knows the lessons better than we do. So it's a huge demonstration of faith that we've taken on in teaching him again. But when we went for the first time, it was awesome. I have never felt the Spirit so strong while using the words of Joseph Smith during the First Vision. His wife was with us and she was absolutely in tears. The Spirit was so tense. At the end of the lesson, the most beautiful words were spoken. Something to the effect of ''I've been hearing from the missionaries for 40 years, yall didn't teach me anything new. But this time, I felt something qutie different. I want my wife to enter into the temple and be sealed with me. This time, I'll get baptized. I don't know when, but with you two, I'll get baptized.'' What?! I almost couldn't believe what he had said!! Praying and doing all we can to see these miracles!

It is so hot here. I feel like I'm just sweating to death. Thanks to this great heat wave that is always stationed on us, my shirts are no longer white and I've gone done a belt loop. Uh-oh. Losing a little bit of weight, that's a little strange. I don't lose or gain weight to easily. I usually just maintain, but right now I'm loosing.  Looks like I need to start eating more fattening foods so that I can fill out my pants and not have them be super baggy!

I ate something that I had never eaten before (this frase is quite normal. I'm always eating things I've never had before, especially vegetables that aren't in the States.) But this week, our cook killed a Raccoon (Mapache), cooked it, and we ate it! Fantastic! It was actually quite good. I enjoyed it.

We held a dog funeral this week. A member family's dog was hit by a car and died. So, we had a little funeral Saturday night. I was in charge of the message. So, we sang 'God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again.'. So I shared Moses 3:5 and DyC 77:2. It was a charming little service.

Well, that's about it for this week. I constantly live hungry because it's hard to find food that actually fills me up. It's hard but it's ok. That's probably why I'm losing weight. The sure thing is, I'll put all this lost weight right back on once I get back to the American diet! For now, I'm going to enjoy the Guatemalan diet--black beans, eggs, and tortillas. I actually love black beans, they're super good!

The Church is true. One way or another, the Lord calls His servants and leaders. For one reason or another, He has called me. I'm called to this position because I can help inspire and animate other missionaries---now, just to find the way.

This week, Read 3 Nefi 11. and Pray.

Elder Hunt!!

Email from March 3

This week was quite fun. On Thursday, we put on a Little actitivity. We invited some investigators, recent converts, and less actives to the house of a member. We had a Little activity talking of the Word of Wisdom. We talked about how we can all begin to take better care of our bodies. We had a part of simple exercises that we can do in our home without any weights and the importance of daily exercise. Then we explained about a healthy diet, using DyC 89. As is necessary, we taught about not drinking alcohol, tea, or coffee, not smoking, and avoiding ilegal drugs and addictive substances. A fun Little night. As the activity happened, it was raining. When we ended, it was only sprinkling--a great way to pass the rain if you ask me! (there's a picture of the group attached.)

We had a great opportunity to have a Little service opportunity. We went and tilled ground. It's like in the states, when people put something behind a house to drag and it breaks the ground so that people can plant things. We did that this week, but with big, rusted out hoes. It tore my hands to pieces and it made me super dirty. But it was at the Bishop's house. He wants to plant grass so that we can start having activities there and it'll be pretty. It was super hard work. In these 9 months, my hands have gotten baby soft since I haven't been lifting weights or working at all. (there's a pretty picture attached.)

This week, Satan attacked me hard with a big wave of stress. Luckily, it was at like 10:15, right before bed. That night, I read my Patriarchal Blessing and went and prayed. I prayed and prayed and literally told my Heavenly Father all that I was feeling. That night, I did not sleep well, at all. Satan was attacking me with these feelings. But the next day, I felt such a happiness and aleviation that I just knew it would all be okay. There was a battle that night, and my guarding angels came out victorious. Ever since that night, I've felt a lot better. Things aren't nearly perfect, but I love it.

I'm pretty sure I'm like a profet. But I'll tell you more about it next week if my profecy comes true. We'll see what happens!

P-Day was fun yesterday. As a district, we went to a member's house to watch 17 Miracles. The members ordered us Chinese Food and gave each of us a HUGE piece of super delicious cake. We all left super stuffed. I love how the members just take care of us. 17 Miracles is a good movie, and I didn't cry! hahaha. (a foto of my district is attached.)

Right now, we're about to start teaching someone that's received the missionaries like 8 times before. His wife is a faithful member and so are his children. He's just not. I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm not nervous. I bet he just has doubts or concerns that we'll help him with. This is his time. He's been attending church, he just needs to get baptized. I bet we'll find out soon enough why he hasn't been baptized. The Lord will prepare him to be ready this month, we have faith.

Not much to say, but it was a good week. I'm safe and still have yet to be robbed :)

The Church is true!
