The main picture on the blog is the Guatemala flag (obviously).

The temple James will be loving and serving pieces of his time in is so beautiful!

Population of Guatemala as a country is approximately 14,757,316 (plus one when he's there!)

The language of Guatemala is Spanish.

When it comes to the weather, Elder Santiago may be in danger of hurricanes, earthquakes and volcano eruptions, depending on which areas he'll be in.

He'll be eating some awesome food that is based on Maya cuisine, meaning it will most likely always include corn, chilies and beans. Fun fact though, some foods are commonly eaten on specific days of the week. For example, it's popular to eat paches (a tamale made from potatoes) on Thursday.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently has over 215,000 members in Guatemala. The first member of the LDS church in Guatemala was baptized in 1948. The membership grew to 10,000 by 1966. In 1984, the Guatemala City Temple was dedicated and membership had grown to 40,000. Membership quadrupled to 164 by 1998. The Church continues to grow and the construction of the Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple has been announced.
